ABOUT THE GUIDE
When a family experiences pregnancy or newborn loss, you are caring for them through one of life’s most tender, and often most unexpected, moments. Many families find themselves facing decisions they never imagined making, still searching for the words to describe their loss. Whether their loss came early or late in pregnancy, expected or sudden, what they need most is compassion and support, and the reassurance that even the briefest lives leave lasting love.
We are here to support you and the families you serve. The Funeral Service Foundation’s newest community care resource, When Goodbye Comes Too Soon: Acts of Love After Pregnancy & Newborn Loss — A Guide for Families, offers gentle guidance and practical information to help bereaved families navigate decisions about their baby’s care, plan a meaningful goodbye, and find ways to carry their love forward.
The Funeral Service Foundation funded the guide and created it in collaboration with the Pediatric Palliative Care Coalition and Return to Zero: Hope. Dozens of bereaved parents, along with healthcare and bereavement professionals, shaped this resource with their words of wisdom and support, so that every act of love, from the hospital to final arrangements and beyond, helps families know they are not alone.
