About Shipley Rose Buckner
A vibrant happy young woman, Shipley planned to attend the University of Tennessee and follow in her father’s footsteps by becoming a funeral director. Tragically, Shipley died in 2010 in an automobile accident just days before her high school graduation. She was 18. Shipley will always be remembered by those who loved and adored her as an amazing young woman who loved life.
The Shipley Rose Buckner Scholarship was established in 2012 by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, in honor of Ralph Buckner, Jr.’s daughter, Shipley Rose Buckner, through a generous gift to the Funeral Service Foundation.
This $5,000 (or 2 $2,500) annual scholarship is awarded to full- or part-time students of funeral service enrolled in ABFSE-accredited programs.
In honor of Shipley’s desire to become a funeral director, the candidate must be a woman enrolled, or accepted into, an ABFSE-accredited program.
