Academic Scholarships Expanded
Up to 12 academic scholarships are awarded annually in two application cycles. Scholarships range from $1,000-$2,500 and are available to full-and part time students of mortuary science enrolled in abfse-accredited schools.
Applications Accepted Sept. 1 – Nov. 30
NFDA members who are under the age of 40 or newly licensed (within the last five years) may submit an entry for Meet the Mentors. In general, 50 funeral directors are selected to attend Meet the Mentors. The Foundation underwrites program fees, lodging and select meals.

Up to 10 scholarships are awarded annually to women in funeral service to attend the annual NFDA conference. Award includes a $1,000 travel stipend and conference registration fees.

Career Development Awards
New This Year
Available to licensed funeral directors looking to grow through professional development and continuing education, Career Development Awards underwrite registration fees for a single NFDA Cremation Certification, Arranger Training or Certified Preplanning Consultant (CPC) session of recipient’s choosing. Up to 60 names are selected each year. Names are drawn in April, June and October.
